Hotel Parklane was established by my father Dundoo Ekambar. It opened in 1972 and was the first and only star hotel in Secunderabad for several years. The lane where the hotel is, got it's name from the Hotel and today it's one of the popular landmarks of Secunderabad, centrally located in the heart of the city, conveniently accessible with excellent train and public transportation within a radius of 01 km. In the early 70's, the Parklane 24 hour coffee shop was one of its kind and people would come from all over the twin cities after watching a night show just to have a midnight burger which was only available here and for Rs 2/-. Everyone in the city would visit the place for sandwiches, french fries, and coffee. Hollywood celebrities such as Omar Sharif and several Bollywood stars including Amitabh Bachchan, NTRama Rao had been our prominent guests. Several politicians, Indian film industry fraternity used to stay here and film shootings used to take place regularly.
